James Edward Carr
March 31, 1938 – March 20, 2021
James E. Carr, age 82, is survived by his wife, Carol (nee Franke) to whom he was married for 59 years, and their daughters Cathy Carr (Jim Hogan), Julie MacDonald (Sean), and Wendy McCleary; their five grandchildren, Kelly and Michael MacDonald, and Katie, Shannon and Jenna McCleary; his sister Beverly Scandrol (late Elroy), sister-in-law Marilyn Oliver, and other close family members. He was also a brother-in-law to the late Richard Franke (late Elke) and was preceded in death by his parents James and Kathryn Carr.
Jim served in the U.S. Army Engineers Reserve Corps from 1956-1957. He attended the nationally-recognized Transportation Program at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville. Over a 37-year career, Jim held several senior positions in transportation and distribution at Ceco Steel Corp., Nalco Chemical Company, International Harvester, Waste Management, and ended his career at a job he loved at Fort Howard Corporation.
Jim was dedicated to his family and career. He was kind-hearted, smart, and had a sense of humor. He also enjoyed golfing and watching football.

Since I was about 9 years old Jim had been a part of our family. I dearly recall harassing the teenagers whom Carol and Jim entertained at our house who were their friends. I was much younger. Jim was always kind to me, even when he picked me up hitchhiking and threatened to tell on me. I will always remember him with love.

So sorry that my college pledge mom and near lifelong pal, Cathy Carr, just lost her dad. Children are a testimony to the dedication and love of their parents. Thanks, Mr. and Mrs. Carr, for leaving such a wonderful legacy in your three fine daughters. I’m lucky and proud to have known your oldest daughter, Cathy, for almost 40 years. It is with great sadness I write this note.
