Melissa Ann Graczyk

Melissa Ann Graczyk, 35, of Rockton, IL., passed away on June 3, following complications after heart surgery. Melissa was born in Hinsdale, IL., and grew up in Darien, Downers Grove, and Rockford. Melissa was excited about a future move to Madison, WI to be near the physicians at UW Hospital she so adored. Melissa was proceeded in death by her mother, Deborah Graczyk. Melissa is survived by her father, Gary, and step-mother, Karen (nee Andre), brother Matthew Graczyk, step-siblings, Anthony (Sarah), Sara, and Justin, nieces Isabella, Sophia, and Ava, nephews Michael and Louie, and many, many extended aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Melissa received an Associate of Arts Degree from Rock Valley College in Rockford, her Bachelor of Science Degree from Liberty University, and was studying towards a Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Indiana Wesleyan University. Melissa wanted to be a Christian Clinical Child Psychologist.

Melissa loved Jesus more than anything. She loved to sing and had a beautiful voice. She could also draw like an artist, loved her Christian ministers, Xena, the Princess Warrior, and inherited a passion for old classic movies and the Marx Brothers from her dad.

Melissa was the sweetest, kindest, most loving soul and a joy to be around. We will most miss her wit and her infectious sense of humor, and her positive attitude of all things to come.

  1. Melissa was my student at Rock Valley College, and I knew her mother as well. Melissa’s intelligence was matched only by her inherent grace and generosity to all around her. She was a living tribute to her mother’s love and utter devotion, and I trust that they are now reunited. I am richer from knowing Melissa.

  2. I was connected to both Debbie & Melissa several years ago through ministry. Many times, as a Minister, one thinks that they are going to go and minister to someone. This wasn’t the case with these two. They ministered to me. I know that Heaven is rejoicing and I can only imagine the music from them both that must be happening now before their King Jesus.
Melissa’s life was one of inspiration, determination and dedication. Nothing stood in her way because she believed in the impossible because of The God of The Possible. I was the one blessed by knowing them.
She’s going to be missed by all who knew her. She already is.

  3. I am very saddened to hear of Melissa’s passing. She had texted me last spring about her nervousness around her upcoming heart surgery. I prayed and assured her she was strong and would pull through. I was unaware she had not recovered until now. My deepest condolences to her family. She was always a bright light and a beautiful soul. I was honored she celebrated my wedding with us. I have comfort knowing she has been reunited with Jesus and her mother in Heaven.
