January 26, 2022; Jeanette Katherine Fanta (Jay Kay); loving wife of the late Milton Fanta, passed away peacefully at age 93 in LaGrange Park, Illinois. Jeanette was preceded in death by Milt and is survived by five children: Charlie, Tom, Jenny (Doherty), Nancy (McGranahan), and Amy (Grant), 10 grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren.
Jeanette was born on May 28, 1928 to her parents, Francis and Helen Vetter. She graduated from Beloit College, and taught physics and chemistry for 3 years in Istanbul, Turkey before taking a job in research at the Rheumatic Fever Institute. Her passions included restoring antiques, photography, fishing, travel, and having an active role in the Questers Group. She provided years of loving guidance, support, and wisdom to three generations of her large family. We will miss her dearly. She dreamed of being with Milton on a long fishing trip in heaven. The memorial and burial will be held in Cornucopia, Wisconsin.
Memorial donations in her name to Bayfield Regional Conservancy, 33 N. 1st St., Bayfield, WI 54814 or to the American Macular Degeneration Foundation (https://www.macular.org/how-donate) are appreciated.
You will be sorely missed, Jeanette. Your home was always a safe harbor for us travelers of the next generation. Keeping you and your whole family in my thoughts and prayers. Good luck fishing. Make Milt bait the hooks.

Jeanette will truly be missed. She and I were in a bridge group for many years and once a year we went to the gambling boat in Joliet. We had a wonderful dinner, played the games for one hour and went home very happy. What a great group. Recently Jeanette joined four of the old group for lunch. We had a lovely lunch and lots of memories to talk about. She will be missed.

I remember the Fanta family, especially the children attending Laidlaw School in Western Springs. They were such a lovely family, and I enjoyed having Tom and Amy as my students. My thoughts are with the family at this time. She will be missed.
We will miss you in Cornucopia.
