Joan Marie (née McCurdy) Miller, age 90, of LaGrange Park; beloved wife of Charles “Charlie” E. Miller for 70 wonderful years; loving mother of Karen (Jeff) Bonse, Greg (Debbie Dyschkant) (the late Janet) Miller, Pam (the late William) Borchardt, Lori (Jeff) Samaras, the late David Miller, John (Christine) Miller, Marybeth (Jeff) Wingert, & Jeff (Lisa) Miller; proud grandmother of Kelly (Dave) Ridarelli, Patrick Wingert, Nathan (Simone) Daniels, Katie (Jerry) Pond, Molly (Jeff) Woo, Zach (Rachel Bennett) Samaras, Cassandra (Nathan Ramp) Wingert, Corine (Tom) Gilbert, the late Becky Borchardt, Lucas (Lauren) Samaras, Kayla (Marisa O’Gara) Wingert, Natalie Samaras, Hannah (Sean McNary) Borchardt, Shane Miller, & Maddie Miller; dear great-grandmother of Noah Wingert, Benjamin, Andrew, & Matthew Woo, Vincent Ridarelli, & Paige Pond; preceded in death by loving parents Lyle & Corine (née Beck) McCurdy and her brothers Ted & John McCurdy.

Originally from Springfield, IL and then Oak Ridge, TN, Mrs. Miller was proud to be of help to any of her children and grandchildren. She volunteered for many years at the Visiting Nurses Store in LaGrange, IL. She also enjoyed being a long-time member of Questers, Ridgewood Book Club, and St. John of the Cross Altar Woman’s Club. She was a long-time member of St. John of the Cross Church, and when her children were younger, she was an active volunteer and school board member for St. John’s School where all 8 of her children graduated, as well as 3 of her grandchildren. Although she always missed her children and grandchildren, she loved to spend her winters in Naples, FL and her summers between her home in Burr Ridge and her daughter’s lake house in Michigan.

Visitation 3 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, April 10 at Hallowell & James Funeral Home, 1025 W. 55th St., Countryside. Funeral prayers at 10:15 a.m. on Monday, April 11 from the funeral home to St. John of the Cross Church, Western Springs. Mass 11 a.m. Interment private.     I was friends with David since grade school. I can only call her Mrs Miller. She was always very kind and welcoming to me. My mom and her were laughing at gatherings at St Johns, a lot. Warm memories
