Gertrude A. Peters, age 99, of Elmhurst. Beloved wife of the late Edward. Loving mother of Kathy (John) Fanone and Karen (late William) Karlovic. Devoted grandmother of Christopher (Rosey) Fanone, John (Cassie) Fanone and Kimberly (Tom) Gallagher. Great-grandmother of Elena, Calvin, Claire and Anna Fanone, Maeve and Nora Gallagher. Cherished sister-in-law of Agnes (late Milton) Peters and the late Beatrice Hamill. Dear aunt of Greg Peters, Deborah Maddocks, Kelly Korbonski and Tracy Ibgui. A funeral mass will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials made to the Fisher House Foundation would be appreciated. Aunt Gert was one of those special people you meet in life and realize that you are better for knowing her! Like her siblings she was wise, always optimistic and just all around a great person. My love to you both Kathy and Karen.
Dear Fanone family,
I am so sorry to hear about the loss of your mother and grandmother. I met her once and in her 90’s, she was sitting in the kitchen with her legs up on the kitchen table. She was fun, articulate, and very interesting! She was amazing. Full of vim and vinegar as they say. And it sounds like your father and grandfather was a funny, wonderful person too. What a pair!
