Warren F. Thomas
February 27, 1933 – May 1, 2022
He was the beloved husband of Lorraine (Dreyer) for 68 years, son of Celia Tomkins, father of Craig (Carol), Barry (Dianne), Bruce (Diann), Gail (Brian) Alsdorf, grandfather of nine and great-grandfather of seven.
Warren graduated from Roosevelt Military Academy in Aledo, IL with highest honors, winning many awards for football and track. He had an appointment to West Point which he declined but accepted a football scholarship to the University of Illinois.
He served in the United States Army Security Agency for 3 years during the Korean War.
Warren was a member of Local 130 Plumbers Union of Chicago for 65 years. He worked for M.J. Corboy Company in Chicago becoming their youngest General Superintendent in M.J. Corboy history and later became their President. He was co-owner and President of Warren F. Thomas Plumbing Company in Westmont, and a member of the Plumbing Council and Plumbing Contractors Associations.
He was a member of the American Legion for over 52 years and a member of Cress Creek Country Club.
Warren was a resident in Downers Grove, IL for 53 years. In earlier years Warren and Lorrain enjoyed skiing and camping. The pas 20 years Warren spent the winters in Fort Myers, FL playing golf and cards.
Visitation will be 2:00-9:00 p.m. Friday May 6th at Hallowell & James Funeral Home, 301 75th St., Downers Grove. Funeral service will be held 1:00 p.m. Saturday May 7th at the funeral home. Interment Clarendon Hills Cemetery.
