Carol Jane Soudan, 88, of LaGrange Park passed away peacefully July 31, 2022 at Plymouth Place, her home for the last 15 years.  She was born to the late Walter and Genevieve Lewis on Jan. 14, 1934 in Oak Park, IL. She graduated from Oak Park River Forest High School in 1951, and from Northwestern University in 1955 where she accompanied the choir on piano while completing her teaching degree. She met the late Thomas Alphonse Soudan during her first year teaching at Willard School, and they married the following year. Carol is survived by four children: Amy Soudan; Tom Soudan (Mary); Mimi Karys (Pete) and Peter Soudan (Carrie); her niece Genny Bruckhauser (Leonard). She is also survived by 8 grand children: Tom, Joe (Colleen) Elizabeth, Kelsey, Alex, Jason, Peter, and Grace; and 2 great nieces: Lauren and Megan and a host of other nieces and nephews, including her piano partner Carolyn. Carol was predeceased by her loving husband in 2011.

Carol biked through France with the Experiment in International Living in 1956 and was a seeker of knowledge for her whole life. She wrote and performed numerous musical programs, she volunteered at the Economy Shop, she had over 20 sets of dishes which she switched on a regular schedule. Carol loved to play bridge, and played the first Wednesday of the month for over 65 years with high school classmates. Carol and Tom loved to spend winters at their beautiful condo in Coronado, CA. Carol was an active Alpha Phi. Carol wanted us to know that she was content and had a good life and wishes the same for all that she loved.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, Aug. 4th from 4 pm to 7 pm at Hallowell & James Funeral Home, 1025 W. 55^th Street, Countryside. Family and friends are invited to meet at Saint Luke Church, 528 Lathrop Ave., River Forest, IL 60305 for Funeral Mass on Friday, Aug. 5^th at 10 am. Interment to follow at Saint Joseph Cemetery, 3100 Thatcher Ave., River Grove, IL 60171, meeting at the cemetery office.
