Judith Zoe Shaffer (née Crain) died peacefully in her sleep at Brookdale Assisted Living at Mariana Butte in Loveland, CO on Saturday, August 13, 2022 at the age of 83.

Judith was born on April 11, 1939 in Savanna, IL to Francis and Belva Wedding Crain. She graduated from Western Illinois University in 1961 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Education, where she was a member of the Sigma Sigma Sigma Sorority and earned her Master’s Degree in Education from National Louis University in 1997.

Judith was a primary school teacher for a number of years and after receiving her Master’s Degree was able to pursue her passion of teaching English as a second language (ESL) to children of many cultures, including Vietnamese, Hmong, Cambodian, Bosnian and Croatian.

Judith retired from Longfellow Elementary School in Wheaton, School District 200 in 2004 after 43 years of teaching.

Judith is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth “Lisa” (Robert) Flick of Myrtle Beach, SC and son, William (Kristi) of Loveland, CO; a brother Steven (Linda) Crain of Branson, MO; beloved nieces and nephews and many dear friends.

Judith is preceded in death by her parents, Francis and Belva Crain; brother Richard “Dick” Crain and his wife Susie and brother, James (Sandra) Crain.

A graveside service and interment is scheduled for Monday, August 22 at 11 a.m. at Chapel Hill Gardens West Cemetery located 17W201 E Roosevelt Rd, Oakbrook Terrace, IL 60181.
