Hazel worked at the Eversharp Pen Corporation, located in Chicago. There she met and married Thomas H. Sharp.
The couple relocated to Cleveland, OH, when Tom took a sales position with the Henfield Company, known for its wholesale line of jewelry. Hazel took a position as an operator with Ohio Bell. While in Cleveland they had two sons, Kim and Thomas Jr. In 1954 they moved to then LaGrange, to be near Hazel’s parents who built and managed the Wolf Road Mobile Home Park and Tom’s mother, Frances, a nurse working and living in Chicago.
In addition to being a devoted and loving mother, Hazel was active in her community and the Lyonsville Congregational Church which was founded in part by her mother’s family, the Vials, in 1843. She took over management of the mobile home park when her parents retired. Walter passed away in 1968.

She moved on to Daubert Industries in Oak Brook, IL where her office overlooked Butler National Golf Course. She rose to the position of Vice President of Administration for the ECP division. She left the firm to care for her mother.
