Dominic John Sanchez Sr., 98, of Muskogee, Oklahoma passed away Sunday, March 19, 2023 with his family at his side. He was born August 4, 1924 in Sheffield, Illinois to Lazaro Sanchez and Marcelina Rojas.
Dominic proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army Air Corps during WWII. He received an honorable discharge for his service.
He married Ola Belle Hancock on July 31, 1945 in Florida. They shared more than 72 years of life, marriage and memories together. She passed in 2017.
He was a long-time member of the teamster’s union and was an over the road truck driver. He was proud to belong to the million-mile club and received the safety award with Pacific Intermountain Express (P.I.E.)
Dominic enjoyed fishing, playing cards with his family and friends, and in his younger years, playing baseball.
He will be dearly missed.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife, Ola Belle; son, Dominic Jr; grandson, John Haak Jr.; granddaughter, Rebecca Robinson; great-grandson, Andrew Hensley; brothers Lucious (Violet) Sanchez and John (Berlina) Sanchez; sister Gloria (Buddy) Meyers.
Dominic is survived by his daughter, Anita Sanchez of LaGrange Highland, IL; son, Jesse L. Sanchez of Muskogee, OK; grandchildren, Jeff Haak of Orange Park, FL, David and Courtney Sanchez of Beggs, OK, Dominic Sanchez III of Beggs, OK, Rachel and Jeff Page of Muskogee, OK, Cassandra Sanchez of Tulsa, OK, Patrick and Brandi Sanchez of Muskogee, OK, and Matthew Sowa of Las Vegas, NV; great-grandchildren, Destinee Carrolls, Brittany Woollard, Tyler Sanchez, Timothy Sanchez, Bethany Johnson, Brooke Sanchez, Tristan Sanchez, Thomas Sanchez, Bailey Sanchez, Travis Sanchez, Brennan Sanchez, Trace Sanchez, Bennett Sanchez, Blake Sanchez, Nic Hensley, Ashlynn Casey, Parker Page, Devin Sanchez, Emma Sanchez, Nolan Sanchez, Taylor Curtis, and Kaylee Sanchez; seven great-great-grandchildren; and other family members.
