Francis J. Callaghan of LaGrange, age 98, passed away on August 22, 2023 just a month shy of his 99th birthday.
Loving husband of the late Louise Callaghan (nee Gallimore) for over 70 years.
Brother to the late William Callaghan (Maxine), the late Anne Marie Lorincz (the late Dr. Albert) and the late Robert Callaghan (the late Helen).
Devoted father to Mary Lou (Tom) Hurley, Michael (Sally), the late Stephen, the late Mark, Jean (John) McQuillan, Beth (Mike) Puntini and Matthew (Helen).
Cherished Grumpa to Peter (Staci), Paul, Kevin (Nina), Patrick, Amy (Josh), the late Daniel, Molly (Rob), Johnny (Lelia), Christopher (Diana), Gina (Patrick), Matthew, Annie, Andrew, Katie, Erin, Mikey and Bridget.
Treasured Great-Grumpa of Spencer, Kelsey, Mackenzie, Brice, Adelyn, Delaney, Brayden, Lilly, Francis, Nolan, Kathryn, Abby, and John Henry.
Francis’ life was committed to his family, faith and country. He was a proud World War II veteran serving in the 530th Engineer Light Pontoon Company and a member of the America Legion Post 1941. He and Louise were founding members of St. Cletus parish in LaGrange. Here, Fran was a member of the Holy Name Society and served as an usher for over 60 years, many spent as Head Usher. He was also the owner of Callaghan & Sons Masonry. He loved spending time with his family in Door County and enjoyed a good cup of coffee on the beach.
Visitation from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 27th at Hallowell & James Funeral Home, 1025 W. 55th Street, Countryside.
