Edward Albert Mersch, 87, of Elgin, formerly of Lemont and Willow Springs. Beloved husband of Donna Mae. Loving father of Dean, Scott and Brett (Leisa). Devoted grandfather of Elisabeth (Gabriel) Khoury, Andrew, Jeff, Zachery, Michael, Jake, Connor and the late Nicholas. Dear great-grandfather of Isaiah Khoury. Fond brother of the late Edmund Mersch and brother-in-law of Robert (Poppi) Sass, Peggy (Bud) Barger and the late Ronald (late Christine) Sass. Visitation 10am until Funeral Service 11am Friday, September 22, 2023 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 11500 German Church Road, Burr Ridge. Interment Lyonsville Cemetery, Indian Head Park. When this dear man was assigned our family as an Elder at Trinity, he came to our house to find out if we were okay and to say he missed us at Church. I’ll never forget that and I bet God knows how dedicated he was.
Ed will be missed very much. He used to sit with my dad and i every morning at mattys restaurant.. He would always bring me books about ww2. And send me jokes on my phone every day. I am truly deeply saddened to hear of his passing away. My heart goes out to you Donna for your loss. Ed was a good man.
