Anne M. Barry, age 81, of Downers Grove, passed away on March 16, 2024. Beloved wife of the late Edward. Loving mother of Daniel, Michael (Heather), Ellen and Kevin. Cherished grandmother of Grace and Caitlin.
Loving sister of Donald (Janet) Mackay, Kathleen (Louis) Hegeman, Michael (Jeanne) Shaughnessy, Brian (the late Deborah) Shaughnessy, the late Donald (Mary Ann) Shaughnessy and the late Margaret (late Michael) Lynch. Dear sister-in-law of the late Mary Ellen (late Ronald) Patterson.
Dear aunt, cousin and friend of many. Anne was a dedicated CPS teacher for 40 years and religious educator for over 20 years. Anne was a woman of faith and service. She inspired us with her fierce love of family and friends. She will be greatly missed.
Visitation from 3-9 p.m. on Friday March 22nd at Hallowell & James, 301 75th St. Downers Grove. Prayers 10:15 a.m. Saturday March 23rd from the funeral home to Our Lady of Peace Catholic Parish, 701 Plainfield Rd. Darien, for Mass at 11 a.m.. Anne touched so many lives in the very best way. I’m grateful I got the chance to know her as both a colleague and a friend. May you Rest in Eternal Peace my friend. 🙏🙏🙏
Our sympathies to the Barry, Mackay and Shaughnessy families. Her picture says it all, a sweet person who always greeted you with that warm smile, an indelible image for me. She and Ed were inseparable and now they are together in heaven. May she rest in peace. Judy and John Byrnes
Bernie and I offer our condolences to Anne’s wonderful family. We met Anne forty-two years ago and she was an incredible primary grades teacher. She served the Jungman community and was loved and respected by everyone. Anne was born to be a teacher and every student under her tutelage benefited by the dedication of such a caring educator. She will be sorely missed by one and all.
