Roger Eugene Kress
Roger Eugene Kress, age 72, of LaGrange Highlands; beloved husband of the late Marie C. Kress (nee Neidle), loving father of Timothy (Mary) Kress and the late Daniel Kress and gracious grandfather of Adam Kress. Fond brother of Connie (John) Fleming, Cathy (Bill) Mercer, and Russell (Yolanda) Kress. Roger is preceded in death by his parents Eugene D. and Helen G. (nee Shishow) Kress. Dearest uncle to many nieces and nephews.
Roger worked for the Chicago and North Western Railroad and eventually Union Pacific Railroad for 40 years, retiring in 2012. Roger loved fishing, traveling with his wife, camping, and was a favorite among his dog friends, always carrying treats in his pocket.
Visitation for Roger will take place on Wednesday, June 26th from 4-8 p.m. at Hallowell & James Funeral Home, 1025 W. 55th Street, Countryside with a prayer service at 7 p.m. Funeral Service will take place on Thursday, June 27th at 10:00 a.m at St. Cletus Catholic Church, 600 W. 55th Street, La Grange (meet at church) with a procession to St. Mary Catholic Cemetery in Evergreen Park where Roger will be laid to rest alongside his late wife, Marie. In lieu of flowers, donations made to Catholic Charities would be appreciated.

I am so sorry for your loss. Roger was a kind neighbor and he dearly loved all the pups. I remember how happy his garage sales made him. He really enjoyed talking to the people. When the eclipse was happening he shared his welding helmet with me so I could view the eclipse safely. He always gave my kids large candy bars at Halloween. He will be missed.

Tim, Jean, Maureen, Connie, Kathy, Russell, I was so very sorry to hear of Roger’s passing. I just saw him the week before while on a very short trip back to Chicago. He would call me occasionally and we would talk. Maybe because I was Marie’s childhood friend he felt a connection when we talked. I miss Marie too. Now I am going to miss Roger as well. RIP Roger.
