Greg Gauthier

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Greg Gauthier (54). He was a devoted husband, father, son, and brother. Greg is survived by his wife Nicole, daughter Amber (Brent Groubert), dog Maisey, mother Beverly Kison, and brother Brant. Loving uncle, brother in-law, cousin, and nephew to countless family, friends, and loved ones who will forever hold his memory in their hearts.

Known for his strong sense of humor and sarcastic remarks, Greg was able to get a laugh out of any situation. He was a storyteller—lighting up a room whenever he recounted stories of hijinks with his brother and friends.

Above all, Greg was a man of faith, humility, and unconditional love. He found joy in rooting for his favorite teams—from Bears games with his brother, Red Wings games with his daughter, and White Sox games with his wife.

A man of exceptional skill, Greg was a gifted guitarist and musician. He treasured the many hours he spent working on writing and recording music in his home studio and online shopping for more studio equipment.

While we grieve his loss, we celebrate a life well-lived and an eternity in peace with Christ. His memory will live in the hearts of all who knew him.

All who attend his wake are encouraged to wear band shirts or any other music-related apparel in order to honor the second greatest love of his life (only rivaled by the love he held for Nicole & Amber).

Visitation 3 to 8pm Friday, January 24th at Hallowell & James Funeral Home, 301 75th Street, Downers Grove, where a Funeral Service will be held at 10am on Saturday, January 25th. Interment will follow at Queen of Heaven Cemetery, Hillside. In lieu of flowers, his family requests donations be sent to West Suburban Humane Society or American Diabetes Association Research Foundation. For Service Info: 630-964-6500

  1. You were a good man, Greg. I hope you know how loved you were and are. You’re already greatly missed. I’m sorry we didn’t get enough chances to get to know each other better and to make up for all the years lost. But I’m forever thankful for the opportunities we did get. RIP, brother.

  2. I will truly miss him. Greg was a great guy and Ienjoyed hours of playing guitar with him. I will miss his smile and his positive attitude. God bless him 🙏

  3. I had the pleasure of working with Greg at St. Francis Xavier School in La Grange where he served as our Technology Coordinator and we shared an office. Greg was always so kind and positive and spread so much joy and happiness with his great sense of humor. He loved having the nickname “Commissioner” that our Resource team gave him, as well as loving the “Bat Cave” space in our office that we decorated for him. We were blessed to have him at St. Francis for the time we did. He was a wonderful person who will be missed.
