Raymond B. Rudy

February 3, 1933 – January 18, 2025
Raymond B. Rudy, age 91 passed away peacefully at home with his loving wife by his side. Devoted husband of Georgette for 63 years. Loving father to Terrie (Brian) King and the late Jeffrey Rudy. Beloved grandfather to Adam (Heather), Patrick, Thomas and Anneliese. Great grandfather to Hudson and Payton, and uncle to dozens of nieces and nephews.
Ray was born in Longmont, CO and was the youngest of 12 children. His family were farmers and over the years, he shared many stories about his days as a young man on the farm. He had a twinkle in his eye telling them. He proudly served in the Naval Reserves for 4 years. He spent a lot of time in Grand Lake, CO where he met his beautiful Georgette. They eventually settled in Roselle, IL where they raised Terrie & Jeff. Ray was quite involved in the Roselle community and his children’s activities where he was the president of the Roselle Recreation Association, baseball coach, and president of Band Boosters at Roselle Middle School just to name a few. He spent his career working at a family business, Shaped Wire in Batavia, IL.
Ray was known for his love and knowledge of classical music and played the organ and piano both recreationally, and at church. It was not uncommon for his music to be heard throughout the neighborhood. Music filled their home. He was an avid cook and would often have dinner parties serving his favorite Julia Child recipes. The evenings would end with friends singing around the organ as he played. He loved to entertain and passed many of his cooking skills down to family and friends.
The center of his universe was Georgette. They were inseparable, a true love story. Together they enjoyed planning trips with family and friends which took them to Hawaii, Europe, Mexico, several cruises, and back to his beloved Colorado.
He had many hobbies like woodworking and making stained glass art. Gardening was a passion, and he would be sure to have a beautiful yard in the summer for Georgie.
Ray was a sweet, kind man who was a treasure to all. He had a zest for life, wonderment, care and compassion that was beyond measure.
Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation Saturday, January 25th from 9:30 to 11am at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 505 S. Park Road, La Grange, IL. The Funeral Service will be at 11:00am.
